Syria: Bombs ricochet off Sayyida Zeinab, a suburb of Damascus.

A bomb exploded near a Shia Muslim shrine in Damascus, killing six and injuring 20. The explosion was caused by a motorbike next to a cab, and was attributed to a “bomb placed in a taxi by unidentified people.” The number of casualties and circumstances are not independently verified.

Syrian police report second explosion in Sayeda Zeinab, causing two civilians wounded in a motorcycle-laced explosion.

Two people were wounded in a blast outside the Sayeda Zeinab mausoleum, where pilgrims gather for mourning. The mosque, defended by Shia militiamen and the army, was targeted during the 2011 civil war.

Recent years have seen a decline in attacks, with some security measures relaxed. ISIL/ISIS claimed responsibility for a double suicide attack in February 2016, killing 134 people, including 90 civilians.
