Narrative of the Event

On January 4, 1999, a tragic incident unfolded at a Shia Muslim mosque in Karam Dad Qureshi, District Muzaffargarh, resulting in the deaths of 17 worshippers. Around 6:25 a.m., four men arrived by car, with two entering the mosque and opening fire on worshippers studying the Quran after morning prayers. The attackers, suspected to have links with the hardline Deobandi Sunni Muslim group Sipah-e-Sahabah, led to arrests, but the actual perpetrators remain at large. Ongoing raids aim to apprehend them.
