On February 20, 2003, a Shi’a journalist, Saghir Husain Kazmi, was shot dead in Korangi on Thursday afternoon. The police said that Saghir Husain Kazmi, aged 35, was shot dead by three men in Korangi’s Sector 35-C Karachi.
Mr. Saghir came to see his friend Khursheed. He knocked at his door and sat under a tree a few yards from Khursheed’s house. As he was waiting for Khursheed, three unidentified men, riding motorcycles, came there, pumped three bullets into Saghir’s body, and sped off on the motorcycle.
Saghir was hit by three bullets, and one of them pierced through his head, which proved fatal. Two of the bullets struck him in the leg. He died on the spot. He lived in Korangi 3 1/2 and left behind two children, among others. Saghir worked as a subeditor in the daily Mushriq Karchi, a local Urdu daily, the police said, quoting family sources. The victim’s father lodged an FIR at Korangi police station.
