On April 18, 2000, Syed Ahmed Raza, a Shia supervisor at the Baghdadi Telephone Exchange, was killed by two unidentified bike riders. The Lashkar-e-Jhangvi militant wing of Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) had accepted responsibility for the murder of Syed Ahmad Raza through a letter sent to media houses in Karachi.
