Narrative of the Event

On December 21, 2003, a Shi’a superintendent of police and his son were shot dead by unidentified people near Darya Khan Bridge in Dera Ismail Khan district on Sunday evening.

Rajab Ali Shah, a superintendent of NWFP police who was presently serving in central police offices in Peshawar, and his son Muazzam were visiting their fields near Darya Khan Bridge on Sunday evening. “At about 6:15 pm, unknown people opened fire on the police officer and his son, killing both of them on the spot,” reported The News International Lahore.

Rajab Ali Shah, 56, belonging to the Shia community, was living in Chah Said Munawwar. He was on two months leave and was taking rest in his native village. His son, Muazzam, 20, according to police officials, was a student.
