There are a few religious identities in Pakistan which mean being declared apostate identities and deprived of the right to live. Shia Muslim identity is also one of them. Shia Muslim community is the victim of a systematic campaign of persecution on religious grounds in Pakistan – Sipah-e Sahaba Pakistan-SSP has been conducting a campaign of violent religious hatred against Shia Muslims since 1984.

According to the data compiled by various Shia human rights organizations, more than 25 thousand Shia Muslims have lost their lives so far.
Fault of Saqlain Abbas was also being a Shia Mslim and he paid the price of his religious identity. He belonged to Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which has been the center of terrorism of anti-Shia terrorist organizations since 1980.

“A police official said that unknown persons shot and killed a person named Saqlain Abbas in Babbar Pakka area of Paroa tehsil. Soon after the incident, the police reached the spot and shifted the body to the tehsil hospital. The CTD police registered a case against unknown persons and started an investigation”.1

“According to sources, Saqlain Abbas a resident of Pakka Hazara was shot dead by armed Takfiri terrorists on a motorcycle near Babbar Pakka Madrasa Muhammadiyah in Paroha Tehsil of DI Khan.
Saqlain Abbas died on the spot, according to initial reports, the incident was a target killing”.2
Khabarwalay, an Urdu news web-portal reported:
“Terrorist martyred the Saqlain Abbas Baloch resident of Pakka Hazra under the jurisdiction of Police Satation Paroa near Jamia Muhammudia and fled”.3
On Wednesday January 18, 2023, relatives and people belonged to Shi’a Muslim community of District Dera Ismail Khan of KPK Province sat-in along with dead-body of Saqlain Abbas blocked the Indus Highway and protested over target killing of Sqlain Abbas.
“Since 1988, anti-Shi’a sectarian militants organizations like Sipah-e-Sahabah Pakistan, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, TTP, ISIS and Al-Qaeda are targeting the people of Shi’a Muslim community all over the country especially in Dera Ismail Khan, Quetta, Parachinar, Karachi under organized Shia-Genocide compaign. Now patience of 60 Million Shi’a Muslims has been exhausted. Genocide of Shia Muslims should be stopped”, said Allama Muhammad Ramzan Toqeer , Senior Vice President of Shia Ulema Council Pakistan, he was addressing the participants of the sit-in protest.4
Dera Ismail Khan division of Khyber Pashtun Kaha -KPK province of Pakistan adjacent to South Waziristan is center of terrorist activities of banned outfits like Tehreek Taliban Pakistan, Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi -LeJ , Islamic State of Khurasan Pakistan-ISKP, from 80s to still this time hundreds of people belonged to Shia Muslims have been targeted to kill by them just because of their Shia Identity.
